79. Preparation for removal and release outcomes for women are supported by effective leadership and management.

The following indicators describe evidence that may show this expectation being met. They do not exclude other ways of achieving it.

  • Managers ensure that all staff understand the importance to women of systematic and effective preparation for removal or release that starts on the day of reception.
  • Managers at all levels ensure there are sufficient resources to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Managers ensure that all staff, especially welfare staff, have the knowledge and training to assist women effectively, and provide effective support both for women who are removed and those who are released in the UK.
  • Monitoring and review arrangements are used to help improve services.
  • Managers work effectively with partners, including the voluntary and community sector, for the benefit of women.
