Working with partners
We often work with other inspectorates.
- Inspections of prisons and YOIs are conducted jointly with: Ofsted or Estyn; the Care Quality Commission (CQC) or Healthcare Inspectorate Wales; and the General Pharmaceutical Council. HM Inspectorate of Probation review offender management in custody on some prison inspections.
- Inspections of STCs are jointly led with Ofsted, supported by CQC.
In addition, HM Chief Inspector may inspect the Military Corrective Training Centre, military service custody facilities and prisons in Northern Ireland and prisons in the Channel Islands and Isle of Man.
