In July 2017, Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services took on responsibility for inspections of England’s fire and rescue services (FRS). To assist these inspections HMICFRS commissioned BMG Research to undertake a study of the general public’s perceptions of their local FRS across England.

In July 2017, Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of the Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) extended its remit to include inspections of England’s fire and rescue service. We carried out three pilot inspections between March and May 2018, and this report sets out what we have learned.
