Crimes against older people, Criminal justice joint inspections  — 

In 2018/19, Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services and Her Majesty’s Crown Prosecution Service Inspectorate conducted a joint inspection of how the police and the CPS respond to crimes against older people. This report sets out our findings, making a series of recommendations aimed at improving police and CPS practice, and so the service provided to victims.

Annual reports  — 

The Police Act 1996 requires Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Constabulary to report each year on his assessment of the efficiency and effectiveness of policing in England and Wales. The assessment covers the full breadth of policing work inspected by HMICFRS, and an overview of police forces in England and Wales. As required by that section, it contains his assessment of the efficiency and effectiveness of policing in England and Wales based on the inspections we carried out between April 2018 and May 2019.

Consultations, Criminal justice joint inspections  — 

This consultation sets out the proposed joint inspection activity in the criminal justice system in 2019/20, and invites comments from stakeholders and others to inform the finalisation of the programme.

This report gives an overview of the emerging themes from the first group of 2018/19 PEEL (police effectiveness, efficiency and legitimacy) inspections. These themes are based on findings from 14 police force reports.

As part of our annual inspections of police effectiveness, efficiency and legitimacy (PEEL), HMICFRS assessed how effective the force is at keeping people safe and reducing crime. This report sets out the findings for Greater Manchester Police.

In 2018, the Home Secretary commissioned HMICFRS to carry out an inspection of the police response to fraud. HMICFRS inspected the effectiveness and efficiency of the police response to fraud, including online fraud.
