The inspection was conducted jointly by HM Inspectorate of Prisons and HMICFRS between 6 and 16 January 2020, as part of a programme of inspections covering every police custody suite in England and Wales.

It aims to tackle the causes of radicalisation, and support and safeguard those at risk of becoming radicalised. As such, the police have a critical role identifying people who are vulnerable to radicalisation and referring them for appropriate support.
