On 3 December 2021, Sophie Linden, Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime requested that HMICFRS conduct an inspection following the East London inquests touching the deaths of Anthony Walgate, Gabriel Kovari, Daniel Whitworth and Jack Taylor, victims of Stephen Port.
Matt Parr, Her Majesty’s Inspector of Constabulary confirmed that HMICFRS would conduct an inspection.
The inspection’s focus will be on establishing whether lessons have been learnt and the actions that can be taken to prevent these failings being repeated.
