Summary

As part of the amended Police (Northern Ireland) Act 1998, HMIC is required to inspect the Police Service of Northern Ireland at least once in every year on their efficiency and effectiveness. The outcomes of the inspections are reported to the Department of Justive, Northern Ireland.

HMIC’s efficiency inspection assessed how a force makes the best use of its available resources with the overall question ‘How efficient is the force at keeping people safe and reducing crime?’
