Out-of-court disposal work in youth offending teams
Youth offending teams (YOTs) are multidisciplinary statutory partnerships that aim to prevent offending by children. Out-of-court disposals make up an increasingly high proportion of the work of YOTs.
In this inspection, HM Inspectorate of Probation and HMICFRS examined the work done by YOTs and the police with children who have committed (usually) low-level offences dealt with without going to court, known as out-of-court disposals. The aim was to develop a national understanding of the range and nature of current schemes.
This report sets out the findings from this inspection.
