Fire and Rescue Services: Hereford and Worcester

In April and May 2021, we inspected Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (FRS). During that inspection, we identified one cause of concern:

  1. Prevention activity is not a sufficiently high priority for the service, and it is not adequately identifying those most at risk from fire.

Hereford and Worcester FRS submitted an action plan setting out how it would address the areas of concern and the recommendations against it.

Between 22 and 24 November 2022, we carried out a revisit to review progress on the cause of concern. In our inspections, if we identify a more serious, critical or systemic shortcoming in a force or service’s practice, policy or performance, we will report it as a cause of concern. A cause of concern will always be accompanied by one or more recommendations.

This letter provides an update on our findings.
