Summary

This report draws together findings from six joint targeted area inspections, focusing on the multi-agency response to children’s mental ill health.

The findings in this report considers how local partnerships and services were responding to children and their families when children were living with mental ill health.

The inspections were carried out between September 2019 and February 2020 in the following local authority areas:

  • Bexley
  • East Sussex
  • Milton Keynes
  • Plymouth
  • Portsmouth
  • Sefton

Our inspections also included a deep-dive investigation that evaluated the experience of children aged 10 to 15 who were subject to child in need and child protection plans, and children in care who have mental ill health.
