The force says...

Nottinghamshire Police covers the county of Nottinghamshire, an area of 834 square miles. It currently has 2,238 officers and 1,465 staff, including PCSOs, around 163 special constables, 113 police support volunteers, 19 student placement volunteers and 131 police cadets.

Around 1.1 million people live in Nottinghamshire, primarily in the urban areas of Nottingham, Mansfield, Worksop and Newark-on-Trent. Nottingham is a major sporting centre and is home to several global companies and two universities. However, there are high levels of deprivation and poverty within the county which pose challenges for policing and other public services.

The population is ethnically diverse, with 12 percent identifying as coming from black, Asian and other minority ethnic communities. The force works closely with established and emerging communities to tackle hate crime, build reassurance and improve representation within the force.

Demand levels are some of the highest in the country, in the last year receiving over 800,000 calls to the force contact centre. The force saw an increase in 999 calls from previous years of 10.9 percent. It experienced a 4.6 percent decrease in 101 non-emergency calls.

The force continues to recruit additional police officers to strengthen the its neighbourhoods and areas of highest threat and risk. The operational control strategy focuses on high threat and risk. These areas are often complex, have high impact for victims and are resource intensive. The force structure provides a geographical focus whilst retaining oversight in more specialised areas.
