His Majesty’s Inspector of Constabulary (HMI): Lee Freeman is HMI for Isle of Man Constabulary (IOMC)

About Isle of Man Constabulary

IOMC is split into four Neighbourhood Policing Teams (NPT); north, south, east and west. Each NPT helps resolve issues affecting the local area.

The force has approximately 221 officers supported by Special Constables and Community Volunteers. IOMC serves a population of nearly 90,000 and a land area of 221 square miles. It is almost equidistant from Northern Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales.

HMICFRS’s role in inspecting this force

HMICFRS inspects IOMC upon invitation.

In the case of the Isle of Man, it is the Minister of Home Affairs who invites us to inspect IOMC.

IOMC is a relatively small force and its capacity and capability have limitations. For this reason, we do not compare it directly with other forces or grade it.

We ask the questions that we believe the public wish to have answered, and publish our findings, conclusions and recommendations. We use our expertise to interpret the evidence and make recommendations for improvement.
