Avon and Somerset Constabulary

In the 12 months to 31 March 2019, Avon and Somerset Constabulary recorded:

  • 1,163 rapes of a female aged 16 or over;
  • 247 rapes of a female aged 13–15;
  • 100 rapes of a female aged under 13;
  • 68 rapes of a male aged 16 or over;
  • 32 rapes of a male aged 13–15; and
  • 40 rapes of a male aged under 13.

Over the same period, Avon and Somerset Constabulary received 207 rape reports that it didn’t record as a crime. It transferred 27 rape offences to other police forces and cancelled 46 rape offences.

Avon and Somerset Constabulary recorded a charged/summonsed outcome for 2.12 percent of the rape offences it recorded that year.

Over the same period, Avon and Somerset Constabulary referred 165 rape cases to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for a charging decision. Of those, the CPS charged 62 cases.

It successfully convicted 56 cases where the offender had been charged with a rape offence, although the crime prosecuted in court was sometimes different, and 37 unsuccessful prosecutions.

The Ministry of Justice reported that 114 rape suspects were proceeded against for the 12 months to 31 March 2019 for cases recorded in Avon and Somerset. Of those, 86 offenders were found guilty

Bedfordshire Police

In the 12 months to 31 March 2019, Bedfordshire Police recorded:

  • 490 rapes of a female aged 16 or over;
  • 114 rapes of a female aged 13–15;
  • 77 rapes of a female aged under 13;
  • 14 rapes of a male aged 16 or over;
  • 15 rapes of a male aged 13–15; and
  • 27 rapes of a male aged under 13.

Over the same period, Bedfordshire Police received 139 rape reports that it didn’t record as a crime. It transferred 50 rape offences to other police forces and cancelled 60 rape offences.

Bedfordshire Police recorded a charged/summonsed outcome for 4.07 percent of the rape offences it recorded that year.

Over the same period, Bedfordshire Police referred 84 rape cases to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for a charging decision. Of those, the CPS charged 12 cases.

It successfully convicted 11 cases where the offender had been charged with a rape offence, although the crime prosecuted in court was sometimes different, and 5 unsuccessful prosecutions.

The Ministry of Justice reported that 22 rape suspects were proceeded against for the 12 months to 31 March 2019 for cases recorded in Bedfordshire. Of those, 18 offenders were found guilty.

British Transport Police

In the 12 months to 31 March 2019, British Transport Police recorded:

  • 29 rapes of a female aged 16 or over;
  • 2 rapes of a female aged 13–15;
  • 0 rapes of a female aged under 13;
  • 8 rapes of a male aged 16 or over;
  • 2 rapes of a male aged 13–15; and
  • 0 rapes of a male aged under 13.

Over the same period, British Transport Police received 267 rape reports that it didn’t record as a crime. It transferred 17 rape offences to other police forces and cancelled 7 rape offences.

British Transport Police recorded a charged/summonsed outcome for 4.88 percent of the rape offences it recorded that year.

Over the same period, British Transport Police referred 11 rape cases to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for a charging decision. Of those, the CPS charged 1 cases.

It successfully convicted 1 cases where the offender had been charged with a rape offence, although the crime prosecuted in court was sometimes different, and 1 unsuccessful prosecutions.

The Ministry of Justice reported that 0 rape suspects were proceeded against for the 12 months to 31 March 2019 for cases recorded in British Transport Police. Of those, 0 offenders were found guilty.

Cambridgeshire Constabulary

In the 12 months to 31 March 2019, Cambridgeshire Constabulary recorded:

  • 596 rapes of a female aged 16 or over;
  • 100 rapes of a female aged 13–15;
  • 104 rapes of a female aged under 13;
  • 38 rapes of a male aged 16 or over;
  • 23 rapes of a male aged 13–15; and
  • 24 rapes of a male aged under 13.

Over the same period, Cambridgeshire Constabulary received 103 rape reports that it didn’t record as a crime. It transferred 60 rape offences to other police forces and cancelled 56 rape offences.

Cambridgeshire Constabulary recorded a charged/summonsed outcome for 2.37 percent of the rape offences it recorded that year.

Over the same period, Cambridgeshire Constabulary referred 123 rape cases to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for a charging decision. Of those, the CPS charged 10 cases.

It successfully convicted 22 cases where the offender had been charged with a rape offence, although the crime prosecuted in court was sometimes different, and 10 unsuccessful prosecutions.

The Ministry of Justice reported that 25 rape suspects were proceeded against for the 12 months to 31 March 2019 for cases recorded in Cambridgeshire. Of those, 20 offenders were found guilty.

Cheshire Constabulary

In the 12 months to 31 March 2019, Cheshire Constabulary recorded:

  • 656 rapes of a female aged 16 or over;
  • 134 rapes of a female aged 13–15;
  • 101 rapes of a female aged under 13;
  • 46 rapes of a male aged 16 or over;
  • 41 rapes of a male aged 13–15; and
  • 48 rapes of a male aged under 13.

Over the same period, Cheshire Constabulary received 271 rape reports that it didn’t record as a crime. It transferred 79 rape offences to other police forces and cancelled 46 rape offences.

Cheshire Constabulary recorded a charged/summonsed outcome for 4.58 percent of the rape offences it recorded that year.

Over the same period, Cheshire Constabulary referred 111 rape cases to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for a charging decision. Of those, the CPS charged 42 cases.

It successfully convicted 45 cases where the offender had been charged with a rape offence, although the crime prosecuted in court was sometimes different, and 20 unsuccessful prosecutions.

The Ministry of Justice reported that 53 rape suspects were proceeded against for the 12 months to 31 March 2019 for cases recorded in Avon and Somerset. Of those, 34 offenders were found guilty.

City of London Police

In the 12 months to 31 March 2019, City of London Police recorded:

  • 26 rapes of a female aged 16 or over;
  • 1 rapes of a female aged 13–15;
  • 0 rapes of a female aged under 13;
  • 1 rapes of a male aged 16 or over;
  • 0 rapes of a male aged 13–15; and
  • 0 rapes of a male aged under 13.

Over the same period, City of London Police received 16 rape reports that it didn’t record as a crime. It transferred 27 rape offences to other police forces and cancelled 0 rape offences.

City of London Police recorded a charged/summonsed outcome for 3.57 percent of the rape offences it recorded that year.

Cleveland Police

In the 12 months to 31 March 2019, Cleveland Police recorded:

  • 416 rapes of a female aged 16 or over;
  • 99 rapes of a female aged 13–15;
  • 59 rapes of a female aged under 13;
  • 19 rapes of a male aged 16 or over;
  • 16 rapes of a male aged 13–15; and
  • 28 rapes of a male aged under 13.

Over the same period, Cleveland Police received 246 rape reports that it didn’t record as a crime. It transferred 42 rape offences to other police forces and cancelled 10 rape offences.

Cleveland Police recorded a charged/summonsed outcome for 3.77 percent of the rape offences it recorded that year.

Over the same period, Cleveland Police referred 110 rape cases to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for a charging decision. Of those, the CPS charged 30 cases.

It successfully convicted 20 cases where the offender had been charged with a rape offence, although the crime prosecuted in court was sometimes different, and 15 unsuccessful prosecutions.

The Ministry of Justice reported that 50 rape suspects were proceeded against for the 12 months to 31 March 2019 for cases recorded in Cleveland. Of those, 37 offenders were found guilty.

Cumbria Constabulary

In the 12 months to 31 March 2019, Cumbria Constabulary recorded:

  • 316 rapes of a female aged 16 or over;
  • 76 rapes of a female aged 13–15;
  • 66 rapes of a female aged under 13;
  • 23 rapes of a male aged 16 or over;
  • 9 rapes of a male aged 13–15; and
  • 33 rapes of a male aged under 13.

Over the same period, Cumbria Constabulary received 269 rape reports that it didn’t record as a crime. It transferred 49 rape offences to other police forces and cancelled 15 rape offences.

Cumbria Constabulary recorded a charged/summonsed outcome for 4.97 percent of the rape offences it recorded that year.

Over the same period, Cumbria Constabulary referred 61 rape cases to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for a charging decision. Of those, the CPS charged 17 cases.

It successfully convicted 30 cases where the offender had been charged with a rape offence, although the crime prosecuted in court was sometimes different, and 3 unsuccessful prosecutions.

The Ministry of Justice reported that 26 rape suspects were proceeded against for the 12 months to 31 March 2019 for cases recorded in Cumbria. Of those, 17 offenders were found guilty.

Derbyshire Constabulary

In the 12 months to 31 March 2019, Derbyshire Constabulary recorded:

  • 560 rapes of a female aged 16 or over;
  • 117 rapes of a female aged 13–15;
  • 130 rapes of a female aged under 13;
  • 26 rapes of a male aged 16 or over;
  • 26 rapes of a male aged 13–15; and
  • 58 rapes of a male aged under 13.

Over the same period, Derbyshire Constabulary received 46 rape reports that it didn’t record as a crime. It transferred 103 rape offences to other police forces and cancelled 93 rape offences.

Derbyshire Constabulary recorded a charged/summonsed outcome for 2.40 percent of the rape offences it recorded that year.

Over the same period, Derbyshire Constabulary referred 77 rape cases to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for a charging decision. Of those, the CPS charged 39 cases.

It successfully convicted 46 cases where the offender had been charged with a rape offence, although the crime prosecuted in court was sometimes different, and 28 unsuccessful prosecutions.

The Ministry of Justice reported that 66 rape suspects were proceeded against for the 12 months to 31 March 2019 for cases recorded in Derbyshire. Of those, 49 offenders were found guilty.

Devon and Cornwall Police

In the 12 months to 31 March 2019, Devon and Cornwall Police recorded:

  • 1,023 rapes of a female aged 16 or over;
  • 214 rapes of a female aged 13–15;
  • 157 rapes of a female aged under 13;
  • 65 rapes of a male aged 16 or over;
  • 34 rapes of a male aged 13–15; and
  • 69 rapes of a male aged under 13.

Over the same period, Devon and Cornwall Police received 169 rape reports that it didn’t record as a crime. It transferred 24 rape offences to other police forces and cancelled 148 rape offences.

Devon and Cornwall Police recorded a charged/summonsed outcome for 3.14 percent of the rape offences it recorded that year.

Over the same period, Devon and Cornwall Police referred 96 rape cases to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for a charging decision. Of those, the CPS charged 37 cases.

It successfully convicted 42 cases where the offender had been charged with a rape offence, although the crime prosecuted in court was sometimes different, and 15 unsuccessful prosecutions.

The Ministry of Justice reported that 71 rape suspects were proceeded against for the 12 months to 31 March 2019 for cases recorded in Devon and Cornwall. Of those, 58 offenders were found guilty.

Dorset Police

In the 12 months to 31 March 2019, Dorset Police recorded:

  • 490 rapes of a female aged 16 or over;
  • 106 rapes of a female aged 13–15;
  • 52 rapes of a female aged under 13;
  • 28 rapes of a male aged 16 or over;
  • 9 rapes of a male aged 13–15; and
  • 25 rapes of a male aged under 13.

Over the same period, Dorset Police received 204 rape reports that it didn’t record as a crime. It transferred 46 rape offences to other police forces and cancelled 43 rape offences.

Dorset Police recorded a charged/summonsed outcome for 1.97 percent of the rape offences it recorded that year.

Over the same period, Dorset Police referred 34 rape cases to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for a charging decision. Of those, the CPS charged 12 cases.

It successfully convicted 8 cases where the offender had been charged with a rape offence, although the crime prosecuted in court was sometimes different, and 6 unsuccessful prosecutions.

The Ministry of Justice reported that 15 rape suspects were proceeded against for the 12 months to 31 March 2019 for cases recorded in Dorset. Of those, 12 offenders were found guilty.

Durham Constabulary

In the 12 months to 31 March 2019, Durham Constabulary recorded:

  • 343 rapes of a female aged 16 or over;
  • 71 rapes of a female aged 13–15;
  • 90 rapes of a female aged under 13;
  • 36 rapes of a male aged 16 or over;
  • 17 rapes of a male aged 13–15; and
  • 57 rapes of a male aged under 13.

Over the same period, Durham Constabulary received 234 rape reports that it didn’t record as a crime. It transferred 13 rape offences to other police forces and cancelled 51 rape offences.

Durham Constabulary recorded a charged/summonsed outcome for 5.86 percent of the rape offences it recorded that year.

Over the same period, Durham Constabulary referred 100 rape cases to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for a charging decision. Of those, the CPS charged 48 cases.

It successfully convicted 37 cases where the offender had been charged with a rape offence, although the crime prosecuted in court was sometimes different, and 18 unsuccessful prosecutions.

The Ministry of Justice reported that 52 rape suspects were proceeded against for the 12 months to 31 March 2019 for cases recorded in Durham. Of those, 43 offenders were found guilty.

Dyfed-Powys Police

In the 12 months to 31 March 2019, Dyfed-Powys Police recorded:

  • 269 rapes of a female aged 16 or over;
  • 45 rapes of a female aged 13–15;
  • 57 rapes of a female aged under 13;
  • 17 rapes of a male aged 16 or over;
  • 4 rapes of a male aged 13–15; and
  • 25 rapes of a male aged under 13.

Over the same period, Dyfed-Powys Police received 64 rape reports that it didn’t record as a crime. It transferred 26 rape offences to other police forces and cancelled 33 rape offences.

Dyfed-Powys Police recorded a charged/summonsed outcome for 3.36 percent of the rape offences it recorded that year.

Over the same period, Dyfed-Powys Police referred 34 rape cases to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for a charging decision. Of those, the CPS charged 14 cases.

It successfully convicted 10 cases where the offender had been charged with a rape offence, although the crime prosecuted in court was sometimes different, and 6 unsuccessful prosecutions.

The Ministry of Justice reported that 16 rape suspects were proceeded against for the 12 months to 31 March 2019 for cases recorded in Dyfed-Powys. Of those, 14 offenders were found guilty.

Essex Police

In the 12 months to 31 March 2019, Essex Police recorded:

  • 1,148 rapes of a female aged 16 or over;
  • 211 rapes of a female aged 13–15;
  • 156 rapes of a female aged under 13;
  • 81 rapes of a male aged 16 or over;
  • 23 rapes of a male aged 13–15; and
  • 73 rapes of a male aged under 13.

Over the same period, Essex Police received 550 rape reports that it didn’t record as a crime. It transferred 42 rape offences to other police forces and cancelled 95 rape offences.

Essex Police recorded a charged/summonsed outcome for 1.60 percent of the rape offences it recorded that year.

Over the same period, Essex Police referred 122 rape cases to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for a charging decision. Of those, the CPS charged 35 cases.

It successfully convicted 36 cases where the offender had been charged with a rape offence, although the crime prosecuted in court was sometimes different, and 15 unsuccessful prosecutions.

The Ministry of Justice reported that 60 rape suspects were proceeded against for the 12 months to 31 March 2019 for cases recorded in Essex. Of those, 38 offenders were found guilty.

Gloucestershire Constabulary

In the 12 months to 31 March 2019, Gloucestershire Constabulary recorded:

  • 275 rapes of a female aged 16 or over;
  • 29 rapes of a female aged 13–15;
  • 34 rapes of a female aged under 13;
  • 11 rapes of a male aged 16 or over;
  • 4 rapes of a male aged 13–15; and
  • 17 rapes of a male aged under 13.

Over the same period, Gloucestershire Constabulary received 48 rape reports that it didn’t record as a crime. It transferred 0 rape offences to other police forces and cancelled 19 rape offences.

Gloucestershire Constabulary recorded a charged/summonsed outcome for 3.78 percent of the rape offences it recorded that year.

Over the same period, Gloucestershire Constabulary referred 39 rape cases to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for a charging decision. Of those, the CPS charged 13 cases.

It successfully convicted 9 cases where the offender had been charged with a rape offence, although the crime prosecuted in court was sometimes different, and 4 unsuccessful prosecutions.

The Ministry of Justice reported that 18 rape suspects were proceeded against for the 12 months to 31 March 2019 for cases recorded in Gloucestershire. Of those, 14 offenders were found guilty.

Greater Manchester Police

In the 12 months to 31 March 2019, Greater Manchester Police recorded:

  • 2,302 rapes of a female aged 16 or over;
  • 500 rapes of a female aged 13–15;
  • 466 rapes of a female aged under 13;
  • 244 rapes of a male aged 16 or over;
  • 69 rapes of a male aged 13–15; and
  • 207 rapes of a male aged under 13.

Over the same period, Greater Manchester Police received 734 rape reports that it didn’t record as a crime. It transferred 41 rape offences to other police forces and cancelled 289 rape offences.

Greater Manchester Police recorded a charged/summonsed outcome for 2.27 percent of the rape offences it recorded that year.

Over the same period, Greater Manchester Police referred 508 rape cases to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for a charging decision. Of those, the CPS charged 149 cases.

It successfully convicted 136 cases where the offender had been charged with a rape offence, although the crime prosecuted in court was sometimes different, and 84 unsuccessful prosecutions.

The Ministry of Justice reported that 207 rape suspects were proceeded against for the 12 months to 31 March 2019 for cases recorded in Greater Manchester. Of those, 167 offenders were found guilty.

Gwent Police

In the 12 months to 31 March 2019, Gwent Police recorded:

  • 318 rapes of a female aged 16 or over;
  • 83 rapes of a female aged 13–15;
  • 93 rapes of a female aged under 13;
  • 46 rapes of a male aged 16 or over;
  • 12 rapes of a male aged 13–15; and
  • 30 rapes of a male aged under 13.

Over the same period, Gwent Police received 99 rape reports that it didn’t record as a crime. It transferred 4 rape offences to other police forces and cancelled 19 rape offences.

Gwent Police recorded a charged/summonsed outcome for 3.09 percent of the rape offences it recorded that year.

Over the same period, Gwent Police referred 81 rape cases to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for a charging decision. Of those, the CPS charged 32 cases.

It successfully convicted 15 cases where the offender had been charged with a rape offence, although the crime prosecuted in court was sometimes different, and 9 unsuccessful prosecutions.

The Ministry of Justice reported that 39 rape suspects were proceeded against for the 12 months to 31 March 2019 for cases recorded in Gwent. Of those, 29 offenders were found guilty.

Hampshire Constabulary

In the 12 months to 31 March 2019, Hampshire Constabulary recorded:

  • 1,418 rapes of a female aged 16 or over;
  • 372 rapes of a female aged 13–15;
  • 198 rapes of a female aged under 13;
  • 75 rapes of a male aged 16 or over;
  • 27 rapes of a male aged 13–15; and
  • 73 rapes of a male aged under 13.

Over the same period, Hampshire Constabulary received 418 rape reports that it didn’t record as a crime. It transferred 30 rape offences to other police forces and cancelled 52 rape offences.

Hampshire Constabulary recorded a charged/summonsed outcome for 1.85 percent of the rape offences it recorded that year.

Over the same period, Hampshire Constabulary referred 109 rape cases to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for a charging decision. Of those, the CPS charged 42 cases.

It successfully convicted 32 cases where the offender had been charged with a rape offence, although the crime prosecuted in court was sometimes different, and 37 unsuccessful prosecutions.

The Ministry of Justice reported that 74 rape suspects were proceeded against for the 12 months to 31 March 2019 for cases recorded in Hampshire. Of those, 57 offenders were found guilty.

Hertfordshire Constabulary

In the 12 months to 31 March 2019, Hertfordshire Constabulary recorded:

  • 626 rapes of a female aged 16 or over;
  • 95 rapes of a female aged 13–15;
  • 84 rapes of a female aged under 13;
  • 27 rapes of a male aged 16 or over;
  • 9 rapes of a male aged 13–15; and
  • 42 rapes of a male aged under 13.

Over the same period, Hertfordshire Constabulary received 244 rape reports that it didn’t record as a crime. It transferred 36 rape offences to other police forces and cancelled 82 rape offences.

Hertfordshire Constabulary recorded a charged/summonsed outcome for 2.94 percent of the rape offences it recorded that year.

Over the same period, Hertfordshire Constabulary referred 68 rape cases to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for a charging decision. Of those, the CPS charged 15 cases.

It successfully convicted 25 cases where the offender had been charged with a rape offence, although the crime prosecuted in court was sometimes different, and 8 unsuccessful prosecutions.

The Ministry of Justice reported that 0 rape suspects were proceeded against for the 12 months to 31 March 2019 for cases recorded in Hertfordshire. Of those, 0 offenders were found guilty.

Humberside Police

In the 12 months to 31 March 2019, Humberside Police recorded:

  • 677 rapes of a female aged 16 or over;
  • 126 rapes of a female aged 13–15;
  • 116 rapes of a female aged under 13;
  • 54 rapes of a male aged 16 or over;
  • 16 rapes of a male aged 13–15; and
  • 140 rapes of a male aged under 13.

Over the same period, Humberside Police received 208 rape reports that it didn’t record as a crime. It transferred 16 rape offences to other police forces and cancelled 56 rape offences.

Humberside Police recorded a charged/summonsed outcome for 1.95 percent of the rape offences it recorded that year.

Over the same period, Humberside Police referred 96 rape cases to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for a charging decision. Of those, the CPS charged 32 cases.

It successfully convicted 39 cases where the offender had been charged with a rape offence, although the crime prosecuted in court was sometimes different, and 33 unsuccessful prosecutions.

The Ministry of Justice reported that 67 rape suspects were proceeded against for the 12 months to 31 March 2019 for cases recorded in Humberside. Of those, 56 offenders were found guilty.

Kent Police

In the 12 months to 31 March 2019, Kent Police recorded:

  • 1,610 rapes of a female aged 16 or over;
  • 287 rapes of a female aged 13–15;
  • 270 rapes of a female aged under 13;
  • 99 rapes of a male aged 16 or over;
  • 48 rapes of a male aged 13–15; and
  • 101 rapes of a male aged under 13.

Over the same period, Kent Police received 1,054 rape reports that it didn’t record as a crime. It transferred 74 rape offences to other police forces and cancelled 487 rape offences.

Kent Police recorded a charged/summonsed outcome for 1.04 percent of the rape offences it recorded that year.

Over the same period, Kent Police referred 82 rape cases to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for a charging decision. Of those, the CPS charged 29 cases.

It successfully convicted 56 cases where the offender had been charged with a rape offence, although the crime prosecuted in court was sometimes different, and 20 unsuccessful prosecutions.

The Ministry of Justice reported that 71 rape suspects were proceeded against for the 12 months to 31 March 2019 for cases recorded in Kent. Of those, 45 offenders were found guilty.

Lancashire Constabulary

In the 12 months to 31 March 2019, Lancashire Constabulary recorded:

  • 993 rapes of a female aged 16 or over;
  • 229 rapes of a female aged 13–15;
  • 206 rapes of a female aged under 13;
  • 99 rapes of a male aged 16 or over;
  • 32 rapes of a male aged 13–15; and
  • 98 rapes of a male aged under 13.

Over the same period, Lancashire Constabulary received 314 rape reports that it didn’t record as a crime. It transferred 57 rape offences to other police forces and cancelled 118 rape offences.

Lancashire Constabulary recorded a charged/summonsed outcome for 3.62 percent of the rape offences it recorded that year.

Over the same period, Lancashire Constabulary referred 256 rape cases to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for a charging decision. Of those, the CPS charged 59 cases.

It successfully convicted 65 cases where the offender had been charged with a rape offence, although the crime prosecuted in court was sometimes different, and 36 unsuccessful prosecutions.

The Ministry of Justice reported that 108 rape suspects were proceeded against for the 12 months to 31 March 2019 for cases recorded in Lancashire. Of those, 82 offenders were found guilty.

Leicestershire Police

In the 12 months to 31 March 2019, Leicestershire Police recorded:

  • 682 rapes of a female aged 16 or over;
  • 121 rapes of a female aged 13–15;
  • 88 rapes of a female aged under 13;
  • 42 rapes of a male aged 16 or over;
  • 11 rapes of a male aged 13–15; and
  • 33 rapes of a male aged under 13.

Merseyside Police recorded a charged/summonsed outcome for 4.03 percent of the rape offences it recorded that year.

Over the same period, Merseyside Police referred 117 rape cases to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for a charging decision. Of those, the CPS charged 42 cases.

It successfully convicted 36 cases where the offender had been charged with a rape offence, although the crime prosecuted in court was sometimes different, and 18 unsuccessful prosecutions.

The Ministry of Justice reported that 58 rape suspects were proceeded against for the 12 months to 31 March 2019 for cases recorded in Merseyside. Of those, 42 offenders were found guilty.

Metropolitan Police

In the 12 months to 31 March 2019, Metropolitan Police recorded:

Metropolitan Police recorded a charged/summonsed outcome for 1.67 percent of the rape offences it recorded that year.

Over the same period, Metropolitan Police referred 526* rape cases to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for a charging decision. Of those, the CPS charged 194* cases.

Over the same period, Norfolk Constabulary referred 58 cases of rape to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for a charging decision. Of those, the CPS charged 13 cases.

In these 12 months, Northamptonshire Police recorded a Charged/Summonsed outcome to 253.32% percent of rape offences recorded in the year.

Over the same period, Northamptonshire Police referred 54 cases of rape to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for a charging decision. Of those, the CPS charged 34 cases.

In these 12 months, Northumbria Police recorded a Charged/Summonsed outcome to 410.15% percent of rape offences recorded in the year.

Over the same period, Northumbria Police referred 172 cases of rape to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for a charging decision. Of those, the CPS charged 95 cases.

It successfully convicted 61 cases where the offender had been charged with a rape offence, although the crime prosecuted in court was sometimes different, and 43 unsuccessful prosecutions.

The Ministry of Justice reported that 141 rape suspects were proceeded against for the 12 months to 31 March 2019 for cases recorded in Northumbria. Of those, 117 offenders were found guilty.

Nottinghamshire Police

In the 12 months to 31 March 2019, Nottinghamshire Police recorded:

In these 12 months, Nottinghamshire Police recorded a Charged/Summonsed outcome to 218.21% percent of rape offences recorded in the year.

Over the same period, Nottinghamshire Police referred 68 cases of rape to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for a charging decision. Of those, the CPS charged 36 cases.

Over the same period, South Wales Police referred 180 cases of rape to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for a charging decision. Of those, the CPS charged 75 cases.

Over the same period, Staffordshire Police referred 87 cases of rape to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for a charging decision. Of those, the CPS charged 38 cases.

Over the same period, Suffolk Constabulary received 550 rape reports that were not recorded as a crime. It transferred 75 rape offences to other police forces and cancelled 73 rape offences.

In these 12 months, Suffolk Constabulary recorded a Charged/Summonsed outcome to 216.45% percent of rape offences recorded in the year.

Over the same period, Suffolk Constabulary referred 47 cases of rape to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for a charging decision. Of those, the CPS charged 17 cases.

It successfully convicted 12 cases where the offender had been charged with a rape offence, although the crime prosecuted in court was sometimes different, and 5 unsuccessful prosecutions.

In these 12 months, Surrey Police recorded a Charged/Summonsed outcome to 144.77% percent of rape offences recorded in the year.

Over the same period, Surrey Police referred 32 cases of rape to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for a charging decision. Of those, the CPS charged 14 cases.

It successfully convicted 24 cases where the offender had been charged with a rape offence, although the crime prosecuted in court was sometimes different, and 17 unsuccessful prosecutions.

Over the same period, Sussex Police referred 57 cases of rape to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for a charging decision. Of those, the CPS charged 31 cases.

In these 12 months, Thames Valley Police recorded a Charged/Summonsed outcome to 282.76% percent of rape offences recorded in the year.

Over the same period, Thames Valley Police referred 203 cases of rape to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for a charging decision. Of those, the CPS charged 76 cases.

Over the same period, West Midlands Police referred 193 cases of rape to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for a charging decision. Of those, the CPS charged 75 cases.
