The force says…

Northamptonshire is home to 0.74 million people across a blend of rural and urban communities. The county has seen significant population growth of 17.7 percent since 2001, a higher rate than national and regional averages. The population of the county is forecast set to increase by 8.2% by 2026.

Policing demand in Northamptonshire continues to increase and evolve; the Force is dealing with increasingly more complex issues, particularly those with elements of vulnerability. In 2018, the daily average number of missing people reports increased from 6 to 8 per day. Every day officers and staff respond to threat, harm and risk related to serious and complex crime including organised criminality and gangs.

Every year the Formula 1 British Grand Prix and Moto GP take place at Silverstone Racing Circuit. There are a number of main routes running through the county which link significant parts of the country together.

Northamptonshire Police receives central funding per head of population that is below the national average. The Force has committed to increasing the number of police officers to 1310 by March 2021.

Northamptonshire Police has set its policing priorities for 2019/20 to deliver its mission of ‘Fighting Crime and Protecting People’. The Force is driving through improvements to service delivery through its Futures Project 2020; the ambition of this plan and remodelling will lead the Force into 2021 onwards. The Force continues to work as part of a number of collaborations at local and regional level to increase its effectiveness of response to serious and organised crime and in protecting vulnerable children. The Force is delivering nationally recognised, innovative work to tackle gangs and violence through its Community Initiative to Reduce Violence (CIRV).
