In 2004, at the request of the Home Secretary, HMIC assessed the performance of Cambridgeshire Constabulary during the investigation into the murders of Jessica Chapman and Holly Wells and the extent to which the force had improved. The report also makes recommendations as to how such investigations could be undertaken more effectively in the future.
