The South Yorkshire police and crime commissioner (PCC), Shaun Wright, commissioned HMIC to assess the effectiveness of South Yorkshire Police’s approach to protecting children from sexual exploitation, and to develop recommendations for improvements. This report was published in November 2013. HMIC carried out a follow-up inspection in May 2014, and wrote to the South Yorkshire PCC in July 2014 to provide feedback.
