Kent Fire and Rescue Service congratulated for strong performance
Kent Fire and Rescue Service is performing exceptionally well and has been congratulated for its performance, a new report has found.

Effectiveness, efficiency and people 2021/22 – Kent Fire and Rescue Service
His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) graded the service:
- ‘good’ at effectively keeping people safe and secure from fire and other risks;
- ‘outstanding’ at efficiently keeping people safe and secure from fire and other risks; and
- ‘good’ at looking after its people.
His Majesty’s Inspector of Fire and Rescue Services Roy Wilsher said:
“I congratulate Kent Fire and Rescue Service on its performance across all three areas of our assessment. Since its last inspection, it has improved in almost all areas.
“There are many positives to report. The service thoroughly understands risk and prioritises accordingly, showing some very innovative and clear planning.
“Senior leaders have a clear vision for the culture of the service, and staff described a working environment with positive behaviours firmly in place, that are accepted, demonstrated and understood throughout the organisation, using the Fire Service Core Code of Ethics. It has adopted some promising practices, including introducing a neurodiversity passport to reduce the burden on individuals who need reasonable adjustments when completing learning and assessments.
“We look forward to continuing to work with the service.”
Today HMICFRS will also publish the State of Fire and Rescue 2022, which sets out His Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Fire & Rescue Services’ assessment of the sector nationally.
