Strategy discussions (meetings)

Discussions involving different agencies, such as local authority children’s social care services, the police, health services and other bodies, including the referring agency. They take place when there is reasonable cause to suspect that a child is suffering, or is likely to suffer, significant harm.

A discussion can be prompted by a referral or happen at any time, including during the assessment process. The purpose is to understand the child, or children’s welfare needs and plan rapid action to protect them.
