Positive action

Activity conducted at all stages of the police approach to make sure victims and children are effectively protected, while allowing the criminal justice system to hold the offender to account. It is often used in the context of arrest policy (an arrest will normally be ‘necessary’ under the terms of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 to protect a child or vulnerable person, to prevent the suspect causing injury and/or to allow for the prompt and effective investigation of the offence).
