Police online investigation team (POLIT)
A specialist police team that protects and prevents children experiencing online abuse. They investigate predatory paedophiles who use the internet to view and distribute indecent images of children or incite any other online sexual activity.
It may also be referred to as the:
- paedophile online investigation team (POLIT);
- online child sexual abuse exploitation team (OCSAE);
- online child abuse investigation team (OCAIT);
- safeguarding children online team (SCOLT);
- internet child exploitation (ICE); or
- child online safeguarding team (COST).
