Independent Custody Visiting Association (ICVA)

An organisation that leads, supports and represents police and crime commissioner and policing authority led schemes. Local volunteers make unannounced visits to police custody cells to assess the rights, entitlements, well-being and dignity of detainees. The volunteers report their findings to the police and crime commissioner and policing authorities who hold chief constables to account.
