Every Child Matters

« Back to Definitions and Interpretations

a UK Government initiative launched in 2003 that introduced a set of reforms to services for children; it was in part a response to the death of Victoria Climbié. Its aim is that every child, whatever his or her background or circumstances, should have the support needed to be healthy; stay safe; enjoy and achieve; make a positive contribution; and achieve economic well-being; it stresses that all professionals working with children are aware of the contribution that could be made by their own and each other’s service, and to plan and deliver their work with children and young people accordingly
