This is an overview of the grades we gave services in England for our 2018/19 inspection period. There are three principal themes or pillars, making up eleven questions overall.
An accessible grades table is also available
Our fire and rescue service assessments are an annual inspection programme of services in England. We assess services on their effectiveness, efficiency and how well they look after their people. We judged them as outstanding, good, requires improvement or inadequate on these categories (or pillars) based on inspection findings, analysis and Her Majesty’s Inspectors’ (HMIs’) professional judgment across the year.
Each pillar comprises specific questions that focus on core areas of FRS work. We also apply judgments to these questions.
We inspect services in one of three tranches across the inspection period. Grades for each service will appear below, when we publish our findings.
