The Force should review the operating arrangements of its contact management department, including the use of appointments, and ensure that these arrangements secure the recording of all reported crimes at the first point of report when sufficient information exists to do so and in any event within 24 hours of receipt of the report.

The force has stopped using diary appointments because the process wasn’t working and created a crime bureau so it records more crime reports as soon as enough information exists to do so, significantly increasing the amount of crimes it records within 24 hours to 93.7%.
