This inspection assesses how effectively and efficiently Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service prevents, protects the public against and responds to fires and other emergencies. We also assess how well it looks after the people who work for the service.

Data, Fire & rescue services, FRS methodology  — 

In July 2017, Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services took on responsibility for inspections of England’s fire and rescue services (FRS). To assist these inspections HMICFRS commissioned BMG Research to undertake a study of the general public’s perceptions of their local FRS across England.

In July 2017, Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of the Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) extended its remit to include inspections of England’s fire and rescue service. We carried out three pilot inspections between March and May 2018, and this report sets out what we have learned.
