Her Majesty’s Crown Prosecution Service Inspectorate Annual Report 2015-16 – focus on victims and witnesses

The Report highlights the inspection work that has been carried out in 2015-16.

A number of inspections during this time period touched on the service provided to victims and witnesses. These included reports on how well the CPS communicates with victims and witnesses, the use of witness summons, a follow-up report on the impact of disability hate crimes, and the operation of the CPS Rape and Serious Sexual Offences units.

The Report also sets out the other inspections that have taken place over the past twelve months including the CPS contribution to the Transforming Summary Justice Initiative and the digitisation of the criminal justice process.

For the next twelve months, inspections will include follow-ups of the Transforming Summary Justice initiative as well as pressing on with the Area Assurance Programme (AAP) that is currently taking place.

Further information on proposed inspections will be published in the HMCPSI Business Plan.
