Early investigative advice

Guidance and advice provided to the police by a Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) lawyer in serious, sensitive or complex cases. It is also used for cases where a police supervisor considers it would be helpful. It is meant to be given at a very early stage of a case to help decide what evidence will be required to support a prosecution, or to decide if a case can proceed to court.
